Afghani Green Tea, consumed as ‘Kahwah’, a traditional green tea preparation in Afghanistan, Kashmir Valley Pakistan, and some regions of Central Asia.
Kahwah was generally served in the afternoon as a refreshing
alternative to chai and often after dinner to aid digestion.
Preparation of Afghani Green Tea (Kahwah):
Heat 1 cup water (about 200ml) water, add ½ tsp Afghan green tea, 1
cardamom pod lightly crushed, 3-4 Almonds (shredded), 4 strands crushed
Saffron and Sugar to taste. Cover & boil for a few minutes. Remove from
heat, Strain, add more sugar (if needed), Kahwa is ready to drink.
