Dulse Leaf (Rhodymenia palmetta), commonly called water leaf and red algae, native to Scotland, Ireland, northern France, Iceland, Canada and Greenland, harvested during low tides from the rocks on which it grows. It is a red sea vegetable that has a delicious tangy flavor, offers a lot of nutrition from this sea plant, and a good source of potassium, iron, vitamins B6 and B12, and fluoride.
Used as a seasoning or sea vegetable. May be added in soup, salad and stew recipes for a nutrient boost. Great for chowders, pasta, bread, and pizza, in sandwiches and stir-fries. Can be oven toasted for a crispy snack. Warning: It is advised that you not use dulse leaf if you have hyperthyroidism.
