Indian Black Salt-Powder
Indian Black Salts (Kala Namak) are mined salt crystals from the Himalayan Mountains in Northern India and Pakistan that undergoes a process that involves addition of spices and blackened after prolonged heating. It becomes a pinkish-gray or reddish-grey color when grounded.
Raw mined salts transform into pungent hydrogen sulfide, sodium sulfide, iron sulfide which gives distinctive egg flavor, and a savory and umami taste.
In Ayurveda Kala Namak is used as a laxative and digestive aid, useful to lower blood pressure and for people are on low-salt diets.
