Large Fava (Broad) Bean are a flat, greenish- brown, large oval beans with inedible outer skin. When the outer skin is peeled, beans have a creamy pale yellow color. When cooked it has bold, earthy flavor, creamy texture and buttery taste. Popular to use in soups, dips to sauces, salads, pasta dishes and stews.
Basic preparation: Wash, rinse & soak overnight. Peel the outer skins (should slide off). Add 4 Cups of water / Cup of Bean, bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer covered for 60-90 minutes or until tender (add more water as needed). Whisk lightly to remove the floating foam while cooking.
Yield: 3 cups of cooked beans / Cup of dry beans
