(Vrat Ke Chawal)
Samo rice is known as millet (Kodri) or Morio Seed, also called ‘Jungle Rice’, as it grows wild along with grass in the rice paddy fields. Samo Rice is gluten free, has less calorie and less sugar content. It is easily digestible and has high nutritional value.
Widely used in India to prepare a tasty and filling meal, consumed during fast (Vrat).
Simple Recipe to prepare Samo Rice:
- Heat1/2tbsp oil in a sauce pan, saute 1/2 tsp cumin seeds, 1pc green chili and 2 tbsp shredded coconut for one minute.
- Add 1 cup washed and soaked samo rice, sendha salt (to taste) and 2 1/4 of hot water and mix well.
- Cover & cook on low heat for 5-7 min or until rice is tender soft. Serve hot.
