Kokum, also called ‘Wet Kokum’, is the halved and partially sun-dried skin of the fruit of a slender, evergreen tree in western India. Kokum is primarily added to give a refreshing sour taste, slightly sweet, fruity and tangy flavor to curries, dals and vegetable dishes. It also imparts a pink to purple color to the dishes.
Kokum is effective in case of flatulence, stomach pain and gaseous distension.
