This is a unique blend of pearled barley, peas, lentils & a convenient way to make delicious & filling soups. Get creative and add your favorite meat, vegetables & herbs for a tasty meal.
Ingredients: This blend of soup mix contains Bengal Gram Split, Green Gram Split, Black Gram Split Pearled Barley, Pigeon Pea Split, Green Split Peas, Red Lentils, Green Lentils.
Recipes: Fry 1 medium finely chopped onion,1 medium potato finely cubed & 3 cloves of chopped garlic in a saucepan with 2 tbsp oil for a few minutes. Add 1 cup diced tomatoes, 1 cup chopped carrot and simmer for a few more minutes. Add 1 cup rice & lentil mix ( washed, rinsed and drained), 1 tsp chili powder, 1.tsp turmeric,1 tsp coriander powder, 1 tsp cumin powder and 4 ¼ cup vegetable stock and mix well. Cover and simmer for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally. Check for salt. Add if needed.This makes a very thick soup (pretty much a full meal in itself), so if you prefer, add some more water to thin it down a bit. Serve with chopped fresh coriander on the top and a few squeezes of lemon juice.
