Sumac is a flowering plants in the genus ‘Rhus’. It bears dense clusters of reddish fruits called Sumac/ Sumach, which are dried and grounded to produce a tangy reddish-purplepowder .
Sumac is used as a spice in Arabic, Persian, and Lebanese cuisine to add a tart, sour lemony taste. Used in the spice mixture za'atar. Used as a rub for grilled meats or kebabs; as a flavoring in soups & stews, sprinkled on fish, chicken, vegetables and rice dishes;added to salad dressings, marinades, casseroles, dips; and many other dishes for additional sour lemonytaste.
It can also simply be used on the table as a condiment to replace salt and pepper. May substitute in any dish on which you might squeeze fresh lemon juice.
Sumac spice are said to contain antioxidants and possess antimicrobial properties. Sumac’s health benefits include promoting healthy digestion, easing upset stomach.
This is a wonderful product. Wish your shipping was a bit more economical..but that is the only caveat
